Entrepreneurship Alive And Kicking In Our Upcoming Generation

September 22, 2023 By //  by Des Ingham Leave a Comment

It seems that the entrepreneurship zeal is still very much alive and kicking in the youth of our country, according to John Ferris, who is the regional ecosystem manager at Ulster Bank. He believes that the next generation will take up the challenge to drive Northern Ireland business forward and make it a very attractive place to work and to live in.

Many Young People Are Actively Thinking About Entrepreneurship And How They Might Use Their Skills And Talents

John wrote an excellent piece for the Belfast Telegraph yesterday (22nd Sept 2023) and so below are a few paragraphs from this particular article:

“Throughout the summer months I was fortunate enough to speak to various young people about their plans for future study and employment.
With GCSE and A-level results being issued in August and a new cohort of students preparing for university, such conversations at this time of year aren’t exactly out of the blue.

“What did strike me however was that many of the young people I met were actively thinking about entrepreneurship and how they might use their skills and talents to make a positive contribution to the local economy. Regardless of the path these students were thinking of taking, they almost all expressed an interest in running their own business.

“The fact that entrepreneurship now feels like a valid and even attractive offer to the next generation is a wholly positive thing. And, as someone who works in this field, something I welcome entirely. At the Ulster Bank Entrepreneur Accelerator we are only too happy to engage with young people and encourage them into this field.”

A Great Deal Of Energy And Enthusiasm On Show From The Younger Generation

He goes on to say later in the article that:

“The determination that exists here among those wishing to start or scale a business continues to inspire all of us and is making Belfast a genuinely exciting place for entrepreneurship.

“There is much more work to be done and a long way to go to fully seize the social and economic potential but this has been a timely reminder of how much progress has been achieved to date. With so much energy and enthusiasm on show, it seems to me that this generation of young people have exactly what it takes to drive us further on and tap into something truly special.”

This was a very positive article from John Ferris, which we love, and it bodes well for the future that there are so many young people willing to put themselves out there as the next generation of entrepreneurs.
