£1 Million Funding Announced To Help Businesses With Digital Transformation

May 17, 2021 By //  by Des Ingham Leave a Comment

A new Digital Transformation Programme has been announced that will give £1 million funding spread around 1,000 companies in Northern Ireland. The Programme will help these businesses with their digital platforms and help them, through mentoring and one-to-one training, to increase their online productivity and sales channels.

Setting Up Online Ordering Systems

Many businesses have been concentrating on their online sales since the first lockdown in March 2020, mainly through necessity of course This Programme will help with a continuation of this, providing them with help to set up online ordering systems, increase their online presence across all digital platforms and use digital technologies in order to make their production processes more effective.

Covid-19 Has Accelerated The Shift To Digital

Invest Northern Ireland have been involved in creating this new Programme and Kevin Holland, Invest NI’s chief executive, talking about this in an article in Business Live said:

“COVID-19 has strongly reinforced the importance of digital technologies and has significantly accelerated the shift to digital for businesses across Northern Ireland,” he said. “The new Digital Transformation Programme will provide a platform for businesses to understand the digital options, which are available to them, plan the next steps in their digital journey and create value for their customers in an increasingly competitive economy.”

Jacqui Dixon, of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, has very much welcomed the Programme, and was quoted in the same article, saying:

“Delivery of the Digital Transformation Programme is strategically significant for the region. It will accelerate the adaptation of technology by SME’s to improve productivity and shows the determination of Northern Ireland’s eleven councils and Invest NI to re-build the economy through partnership.

“The Programme will equip and guide businesses to develop Digital Acceleration Plans with the support of public sector.”

The Bottom Line Is To Increase Sales

This particular Programme will be rolled out this summer and will no doubt help a host of companies improve their online presence and systems, and on the bottom line increase sales. We talked about the importance of businesses using digital technology to grow and thrive in our last article and this is certainly an ongoing theme that we will return to. It is absolutely vital that businesses use all the tools at their disposal to increase their profile and sales, and the online world can no longer be ignored by anyone, whatever sector they happen to be in. It is good to see that this funding will be available to so many businesses in Northern Ireland.
